Like you, I believe that it is higher, too. We have a lot of work to do.

It is a horrible matter and so sad for anyone who is taken advantage of in any way.  And it never gets any better.

Pat, so true,as was also the case with child abuse victims sent to "juvi."

Rape is a crime of violence from sick cowards who have a misdirected sense of what constitutes control and power, imho. How a woman (or man) dresses; i.e., one's attire, has no bearing on the distorted perceptions of a perpetrator, again, imho. We should all enjoy dressing how we please, within the sanity of reason. "Joe" was either ignorant or stupid, or both. thetasteofhoney.org is a premier online Survivors' network of professionals who provide assistance to survivors of sexual trauma. (I have donated an appropriate poem to them, which they told me they loved.)

Copper Canyon Press is one I recall from years ago, and I'm pleased to see they are publishing voices so clear and relevant.

Re: Kabu

Thanks, Kabu, for reminding me about this. I think I've gotten caught up in the current trends on this where the rage gets left out, and it's all about power... Woe.

Joe had no idea what rape is all about. he thinks it is an uncontrollable sexual urge...No it is all about rage and power.

P.S. I was going to write a bit about the Copper Canyon Press

a poetry publisher in Pt. Townsend, WA., but a Google search reveals that they've become so much more than I remembered that I can't do them justice. If you're a poetry reader/lover, you might enjoy their website.
