Well most of us know what a problem it was to stop smoking. Drink must be many times worse. At least it is a boost for Wiley to be greeted with respect for his achievement,

I am glad though that you are the driver, if it becomes treacherous weather perhaps a taxi would be safer.

I have found, too, that one never stops learning...That is great the AA meetings are non-judgmental.

I feel like they key to any transformation always has to begin inside... and I agree with you that it has to include spiritual... and be a whole life change.  They are lucky to have you there for support... but of course, Wiley is the luckiest of all.

Re: dear Taps...

I have never had to face such a situation dear Taps. I have no idea what I could or couldn't do. I do see that many families have walked away and it takes years sometimes it never works for them to become family again and part of the process is accepting that all one can do is to clean up one's own side of the street and hope and pray that the others can clean up their side of the street. Of course that can mean that they truly have to move away and get on with their lives.

Nothing about AA is easy. And none of it is my place to judge or even offer advice. That has to come from other members, doctors, and social workers etc. All I ever do is to offer the women some  loving hugs.

So, what do you think of what they call tough-love, and ultimatums?  I just can't be that way.  It is not in me.

I love the term spiitual nutrition - very appropriate.

I think one of the women in the writing group at The Center said our meetings are like the AA ones in that we are all encouraged to listen and nobody judges or criticizes the others. It's all good. Blessings & hugs :)

Kabu

Lovely post, dear lady. It's wonderful that you drive and accompany Wiley to his meetings. We do, or should try to, keep learning always. Well said.
