I here what your saying Annicita but I think more to the point is that the structure itself causes people to get lost. Studies have shown that children who have grown up in families without the ridged dos and don't of religion are more compassionate and empathic. The truth is people don't need religion to teach them kindness or how to be good that is inherent in our nature. All parents should be doing is fostering what is already there. All religion does is convince us that we need it. Which of course is to the advantage of those in the business of religion. Other studies have also shown that divorce is higher in the religious community than the non - religious community. One thing religion has proven to be very effective at doing is dividing and creating endless division among the human family.

Amen to that.  Good points.  All religions have their rituals,  largely meaningless in the final analysis.  What counts is the values,  moral principles,  and actions of the worshipper,  regardless of their rituals.  Jesus condemned the rituals and public displays of the Pharisees,  calling them a generation of vipers.  He advised us to to pray in secret,  and ponder his words in our 'heart'  (spirit).  Merry Christmas!!!
