Good Morning, Dear Kabu - hope you and WileyFriend are feeling fine today. Supposed to be another high flame day; glad I can stay inside and not be cooked, haha. I wish everyone could escape it..

Re: Katray2

Far from pitiful, RPresta! Your answer makes a lot of sense to me. And Joannie's song fits perfectly; thank you...

A great question for us to ponder.

Katray2

I pondered this question but coukd only respond with only a pitiful answer. There is good and there is evil. We choose. Why? The answer is above me somehow. I am reminded of  the lyrics from the Joannie Mitchell song, "Both Sides Now."

Well said, Kabu! My line of thinking and feelings of what I call faith are very similar. Your last sentence says it all!

Re: Good points; this is a question that popped into my head from reading

My Faith is extremely strong but it is not really religion. I guess when the creator made earth she knew all about who and what would destroy not just themselves but everything around them. I have Faith that she is the Mother of everything, of all the universe.

The far righteous are so rapped in the old testament and in paternalistic societies I don't care whether one talks about Christian or Muslim they are all misguided and capable of evil deeds.

Good points; this is a question that popped into my head from reading

gloom and doom predictions by folks who are religious right. Predictions that will come true of Hillary wins, of course, they say..My personal beliefs are as hazy and shifting as human knowledge itself. I feel a faith for some kind of higher power but who truly knows at this moment within our earthly view.

The thing is...

your question pre-supposes an understanding of the nature of God which is based on human perception and philosophies, psychological and historical factors... Have you considered that maybe God isn't quite what you've been led to expect? That maybe God doesn't do what you've been taught is what God does?

Personally, I believe we are here to learn how to make choices, and that saving us from the results of poor choices is not how God works. We have to learn through consequences what works and what doesn't, in the long term, to make the best of all this world offers us.
