This is also a trait of narcissistic personality disorder: Everything is about him, aimed at him, meant to hurt him: everything is personal, and it is up the world to change to avoid hurting his feelings.
That's unstable enough, but he also doesn't think before he opens his yawp and lets random, impulsive things fall out. Probably this is also because he doesn't see the need to edit himself: that is also up to everyone else to make allowances.

Is it just me or does Mr Trump really take every political jab as a personal insult to himself. Isn't that how very insecure and immature people behave...People who are bullies because they have no self worth!

Yes, he is pretty clearly a sociopath, totally unable to empathize with others. And narcissism like his is listed as a disorder, I believe, in the Psychiatric Diagnostic Manual. He isn't just a little or occasionally like that: it is a well-established lifestyle for him.
