Yes Pat had a rough time herself ,but ultimately she had a forgiving nature. It is hard work searching back. Fortunately for some reason I was told quite a lot about my families history. And whats more what I don't know I will make up. Let me think. yes I think my great grandfather put the Blarney stone there. No one would have kissed it if they knew where  it came from.

I enjoyed reading your brief family history...I am enjoying Pat's series of entries as well.

For once you can keep your broom in the hangar closet - I fully agree...

What a wonderful post! Congrats to Pat! I have done much genealogy work and it is indeed daunting to research and record, and do so in an interesting manner.

Wow, I am honored and humbled. Thank you for the kind words.

Your point about memories not jibing is dead on! Any time two people compare an incident that took place long ago, they're seeing it through layers of memory, and as it turns out each time we tell a story or write about it the slight changes we make as we go replace the original (I've been reading about this). My sis Rose and I have wildly different versions of what happened at various times; I've decided we're both partly right.

That was a wonderful post and a real tribute to our Pat B's writing of which I firmly concur.

I have encountered that stone wall too..

And I know my mother was not much interested in her ancestry when she was younger, though now that she's retired and has more time, she is. My great grandmother Mary shared many snippets about her father's family and our French connections, especially her beloved Julia. My father was very interested in his Native American roots and researched and wrote quite a bit about them. Time consuming indeed but so fascinating and if one has the focus and drive, as it sounds Pat does, can be something that many people enjoy. I need to read Pat's posts soon! Thank you for the thought evoking post, Dear Kabu..
