I feel as disappointed about our grocery store as do you love I just wasn't ready to tackle the problem. Metro is a Quebec company so I decided I shall go online and write them our displeasure.Love you

I guess us in America are a bit less prone to smile away situations we want changed. Well we were that way until this beast 'political correctness' took over like a giant verbal octpus. I love the kitty cats, makes me think of George and me.

Good post and, yes, cultural differences are very noticeable.  That whole "Ugly American" thing came about because we tend to be, as a whole, more outgoing and assertive by nature than a lot of cultures are.  My own reaction would have depended on the circumstances....if it's the only store in town and I wouldn't be willing to go anywhere else, I probably wouldn't bother the clerk with more of what she has no control over and is probably already sick of dealing with....but if there are options, I would definitely advise her to let the owners know I was dissatisfied and probalby going to be taking my business elsewhere.  As FSI pointed out, the manner of delivery sometimes varies a lot by area of the country here...whether rude or polite is probably a matter of perspective.

It is interesting to read about the differences. I find in America, we tend to have different cultures within the country. Southerners tend to be more polite than Northerners.

About a lover's little spat:

Were it not for the occasional fur standing on end,
the arched back or unsheathed claw every now and then,
when would we ever get to share the bliss
that comes with the sweet make-up hug and kiss?

I had to smile at your comparison between the Canadian and Australian styles of communication - seems absolutely right to me.

Well then, let's bring in more Aussies to teach us to speak our minds - and they might enjoy finally being able to live right side up, even with the snow...

Well i think I would have mentioned it. You have to remember though the woman was not going to run the new ownership down, she might have felt lucky to still keep her job.

I would just go to a different store, hey Kitten do you think. No you will say an old Tom cat.
