Ahh, I figured this could become a question. The answer, of course, is as you say. However, my question is, what happens to all the time that existed before there was time, at that time when time ceases to exist, so to speak? Like the time we are in right now, if that we are? Whoaaah, too much bending of this poor mind. String theory, circle string theory, multi-dimensional time, alternate realities - sure, I'll have a glass of that!

Re: Re: RPA

I see you too like to roam there - in particle physics, astrophysirequires nto cs and space! And if you have actually penetrated into string theory, you have travelled farther than I have - I was getting all entangled in those damn strings and fled...But as to your question: I know it's hard to conceive, but in the (unlikely, as we now think) event of the BIG CRUNCH time necessarily disappears with space! Of course Barbour doesn't think there's time at all, which requires a different way of looking at what happens beween getting up and going to bed, LOL...

No no, I cannot talk about space I just like to peer over the edge of a dimension, great little big poem.

Hopefully, the freedom will come...

Re: RPA

Hmm, I LOL! No, no, no! Point away! I love it! The theory of an expanding universe; the effect of what we call black holes on such; particle physics in general; string theory, spacetime continuums bending and folding; perhaps innumerable universes existing and expanding, some simultaneously, then each contracting into itself, could they meet... Yes, unity, I agree, there must be some kind of unity betwen space and time or there would be phantastic chaos.

However, now I laugh; regarding 'timeless space,' if the gravity of black holes caused all space within the universe to collapse onto itself, where would time go? I dunno? Perhaps I could use a scotch...

Enjoyed your comment immensely!

RPA

A fascinating phantasy, LOL..Even though I simply must point out there probably is no such thing as 'timeless space'; instead, physics demands that we speak of 'spacetime' as a kind of unity...But there are people who would probably whip me with wet noodles for getting into such matters here, and I don't know why I did - probably because my after dinner scotch was too large, LOL...

It's surrealistic splendor.
