OMG!  I was reading along, sorry he had fainted and commiserating - I've fainted several times in my life and could well imagine how he felt going down but I mainly, as a mom, was sympathizing with your fright at feeling so helpless.  And, then......OMG! you described what happened and my stomach heaved!!  I am empathetic to a ridiculous degree and slammed my thumb in a heavy file drawer one time and have a bit of a phobia about repeating such an injury again....I felt my stomach dive like an elevator just thinking about slamming my thumb in that door with Son #1!  I'm sooooo sorry for him!

Yikes!! I know how that is. I had two such incidences in my childhood. Wasn't as bad as losing a nail though. Give him lots of hugs

Poor chap, it makes my thumb ache to think about it. I shall put him up for levels of torture a man can stand. It must have been a shock to his system, Now my thumb is aching in sympathy I shall have to have a glass of red wine.

Terrifying for you!

And he was probably trying to save you anxiety by not howling when it happened.

Reminds me of a time when Charlie, around age 6, ran around a corner of the driveway and slammed headfirst into a parked car. He got up, ran home down the long driveway, and it wasn't until he was in front of me that he lost all that stoicism, and burst into tears. His forehead was bleeding, he'd hit that car so hard!

Happy he is okay except for his thumb. I would need a nap too..:)

I hope he's feeling much better, but what a scare!

We can mess up when we're on 'automatic pilot' and not totally focused.

I remember when my sister fainted last year. She was at the hair salon. We were all nervous before she was given the clean bill of health...I would have been worn out, too.

Give Son #1 my best! I suspect it may have been his attempt to toughen it out without making a big to-do about it that caused him to faint. Babies don't faint - they howl!

And I can fully understand your shock!  I hope you had a scotch or a brandy handy for the two of you afterwards...

I can imagine you were worn out. I am sorry he did this, bless his heart. That is terrible. I hope you are rested now that you have slept.
