Re: Krisles,

They always remind me of a poem out of childhood, The Land of Counterpane. RL Stevenson, I think. And that leads me to think of making different counterpanes inspired by the farmlands of various lands: and Ohio patchwork would be quite distinctively different from Texas or the interior Pacific NW.  I'm not a quilter, though.

Thanks for the idea about the flooding that well may have stripped away topsoil.

Actually, I've been trying to think of what those treelines reminded me of and as soon as I hit enter on my comment I realized what it was.....embroidery or crosstitch folilage

OMG!  I love these photos!  They are fascinating to me, of course.....I know I've flown to Denver from Austin, but can't remember if I've flown there out of DFW....but, I really don't remember those particular views.  I think that the odd wavy formations might be from all the rain/flooding in the area washing away topsoil.  I don't know, it's just a guess but that area is where there was so very much flooding....just not enough to fill the river but you see all the small ponds and tanks.  I love the way all the tree lines look like vines crawling across the land.
