I suffered two main bouts of depression.  It took a long time to work through it but I made it through and glad to see the other side.

TAPS
Important words - it's a huge issue. There are many families who have loved ones struggling with mental health problems, and the service available are frequently inadequate...Sorry, no flower today - this phone doesn't have any, :)

Excellent post. I do find that people are more open and searching for ways to help, once again much because of Facebook and other social media. Being informed and educated about it is the first step. I think most people are essentialy kind and want to help once it is understood what there is to do.

There were always one or two mainly young men standing usually against the school wall for company I guess. No one took much notice of them and yet one I knew could play the piano and another kept the book for the village football team. They were always friendly but eventually as the parents passed on, at a much reduced age in those days. They just disappeared, I never thought to find out where as I was only young.

Bless you, TAPS for posting this one. It is sad how the mental health

issues are "unmentionable" - when they're every bit as not-our-fault as TB or cancer. Maybe one day the stigma will go away and we won't feel so helpless in the face of it.

excellent Post dear Taps. My family had great issue with Mental health. A strict methodist back ground blamed all issues on the sins of the Fathers....and that just made it all the worse..So much prejudice as I grew up to see. Yes deaf and dumb the R word...it was all there. Mother used to say of one of my Uncles who married Dad's sister, "You know his Mother was a Jew!" I never understood what was bad about that> Again prejudice.
