Costuming is one of the things I notice most in a play or movie.  It is so important to the finished product.

Yes, well try and be careful driving. It is early days yet with the eye. I suppose in a way it is more difficult to source period clothes, I expect they were patched and altered very often. I remember my Mother telling me that when she was a young girl, she was taken by an aunt to meet two old ladies about 60 in that time I expect. Mother was struck by their attire they were absolutely covered in darns and patches the original cloth hardly noticeable . The Aunt told my Mother that they were two spinsters who had one been

part of the gentry set, but obviously had come down in the world. I don't think there was any pension and they were probably too proud to seek subsistence as they probably still received a tiny allowance from a previous benefactor. Probably they were worse off than the peasants who could collect wood or do a bit of work for others.

It is always interesting to see who rises up.

Costuming, makeup, historical accuracy - these are the pragmatic

absolutely vital bits that make the final production art. And these are the things those of us who just buy tickets don't see. It takes a talented village to raise .... well, you know.

It really spoils the show for me if the costumes are all wrong...or are all so moth eaten and drab from being in too many shows. This is a lovely job that you are creating for yourself.
