Those hugs feel good in the middle of winter here in our north country.

Sometimes if I let myself think along those lines, I count the days,

weeks, months since anyone touched me. I've never been very demonstrative, but these days I won't let my boys go after a visit without a hug, and I pat the shoulders of my friends at the center when they seem distressed. Some of them are huggers, which is one reason I love it there.

Any hope for Monkeys,  Oh! well. I do agree though, my cousins always hug on my Dad's side , but not on my Mother's. So there are huggers and non-huggers. I think it depends a lot on one's childhood. A lot of old folk were brought up in large families where the mother had enough problems problems feeding them and producing the next one, to worry about hugging. Better than kissing really, more hygienic. Well slap one on the cheek that's alright below the eye of course. Good blog today.

Oh how I loved this post. I also loved the comments. Hugging is such a great activity. I never thought of all those people who are not even old who don't have others.  Now give these away, I am about to give out a lot of hugs.

I ran into a nurse that I worked with more than twenty years ago.  It's pitiful that I couldn't remember her last name, but first thing we did was ran toward each other and hugged.  I didn't ask her the last name because I didn't want her to know I had forgotton.  LOL

So important it is to have such physical support...I never would have imagined that such an industry would exist...It seems like so many people have immersed themselves completely into social media.

Oh, yeah! I learned a long time ago the benefits of certain forms of human contact. I always know when my wife needs a hug, and she always knows when I need a hug! It's sometimes at the same moments . . .

Kabu

My mom was widowed at 54 and anytime I would make my vacation visits she would soak up all the hugs she could because we were always a very affectionate family and she was so hug-starved.  I try to hug her all the time now and she is so frail it breaks my heart.  I've seen tv shows about people who walk around with "free hug" signs and I like that much better than thinking about a commercial operation.  I'm a big hugger and usually give out a few a day anytime I'm at work.  Thanks for reminding everyone...and you two hug each other for me, please....nope, not good enough...((((HUG)))))
