I said it mostly to make a point. It is the way it seems that a lot of Crhistians beleive it to be. You either believe in God and all his greatness and you go to heaven or you don't and you go to hell. Somehow it is your choice though, even though it is God who is the one to send you to hell.

No matter how the NT is presented it is still very flawed and has very little in it that I would trust as 'the way things work'.

I think...
there's more wiggle room here than you're allowing. It's possible to believe in an afterlife without believing in the notion of heaven and hell that so many of us were taught
