So sweet....and the new uncle's comment made me laugh thinking of that ad showing the difference between the mom's handling of her first versus the second child in letting folks hold them. Great photo.

TAPS

Doing some catch-up reading....I tend to love so many pretty cups I've collected that I like to rotate them around...and when it comes to most things I tend to always have several of a kind that I love....and if it's a utilitarian item will usually make sure I always have a back-up or two purchased if it's something I've discovered I really like! It's people I hang onto forever.....and this one dang husband I don't need....oh, well...

I think we're all like that when it comes to certain objects and items. I too use the same coffee mug each day, and don't you dare try to change any of my pillows! There is a certain amount of comfort in these things . . .

With all my pretty and interesting and unique cups and teapots here

I still am inclined to use one of three or four particular ones for coffee, and particular others for tea. As you say, it's part of the taste!

Honey I don't know anything about the name calling of such behavior but if it makes you comfortable then that is the way to do it. Be blessed.

Well Taps me and thee be opposites I keep using clean cups until I can find no more and then put them all in the sink and dose them with Milton baby sterilizer. Plates are washed immediately after use along with anything else. I do keep one knife for apples, and a different pair of glasses for the computer. Also a different mind-set for bloggit.

There's absolutely nothing wrong with 'habits' - they give our lives some structure, and yes, comfort, and they are part of who we are! They become a problem only when they become a 'problem,' LOL...

Re: Vermont01

So many wise people have made statements that I feel should be used to the max, not just said once and gone for good.  Four-letter words should not be allowed to take over the world.

It is your home, your things, you are not outside shooting people(which seems to be the latest pass time everywhere), Enjoy love. Comfortable and happy is what is important.

I think you're fine, nothing to worry about. I like the quotes you have been

 incorporating into your work.

In my house, I still have a lot of mugs that belonged to my grandmother. I inherited her house. I am not a coffee drinker. I really ought to get around to giving them to my mother and aunt, who would probably use and appreciate them more than I currently do.

I too have a cup I prefer and also have one I will take if the other is in the dishwasher.

When I was younger, I had to surrender my children for a short period due to illness.  I was quite afraid of the children never returning.  I purchased a special cup at the Disney Store.  It was which ever character that used the fairy dust.  I believe Peter Pan.  As I needed funds at the time I took in a tenant for the basement.  Although he had his problems, the last straw was that he broke my rule #1: Never use my cup.  I kicked him out that day.  Especially because he used it to drink beer.  It to me represented using the fairy dust one day and poof the children would be home.

Fortunately, it was only a few weeks after that, that they returned home.  It was permanent!

Now the cup I use is the last of the set I raised them with.

In a Course In Miracles, it says that nothing has value that we have not placed on it.  If we were famous writers or artist, people would be willing to pay the value that we place on it now.  I would not take anything for my cup.
