Re: CCT,

Since Homo sapiens began, I don't think much has changed in the needs we strive to get met, just in the technologies we do it with. Old Roman politics was just like American politics today, the politicians just as venal and corrupt--but they didn't pretend to be nice.

Re: Kabu,

Sadly, so many of the fair-minded, the generous, the healers and thinkers tend to be live-and-let-live sorts, easily bullied or shut down by aggressive, power-hungry sorts who don't have civil ethics.

I expect the old cave folk were the same Ciel throwing the bones in the corner of the cave. History repeats itself as you know.

I do agree We need to clean up our backyards...stop pretending that our Countries are a shining example for the rest of the World when we know how wide spread is corruption, inequality and on and on...Yes there are worse places but we can do much better and it can never be too late for Democracy to work.

Re: TAPS,

Making a start is the thing.  Even hoarders can eventually get a clean house--for a while--even if it takes a backhoe.

Re: JimmyA,

When the rest of us decide we have had enough.

Housekeeping of any kind, at any level, is specifically difficult, nearly impossible, if it hasn't always been done and kept up on a regular basis.  To start doing it at this point would belike trying to clean up the hovel of a hoarder.
