Re: Funny how irascible I become at the thought of an "official"

Well it was a government survey Pat and they did give one a book of stamps. What surprised me the woman said she was drawing her pension as was her husband. So I suppose she was trying to keep things going.

Funny how irascible I become at the thought of an "official"

coming to my door asking such questions. Worse than having a Jehovah's Witness ask if I want to go to heaven.  Not now!  I'm busy doing nothing, let the doorbell ring, they'll give up soon.

As for the apple tree, I'm quite sad for the lonely stoicism I hear in the words.

Re: Taps

I guess your Dad's tommies were grown in the good earth Taps. A lot are grown in sterile mediums these days with added nutriments. Alright those those who do not remember the proper taste.

Re:

Well it surprised me when she said she was drawing a pension. Perhaps you only look twenty -five to me . Of course it pays to flatter.

I very much dislike taking part in surveys.  I usually try to get out of it.

I love, love, love good tomatoes, both eating fresh and in cooking.
I remember my Dad's home grown ones as being the best ever.  I guess that's the usual thing wishing for what is no more.

I suppose they felt sorry for the lady...she needed a job so they made one up for her to do....I mean it does seem to me to be a wasted visit...all her data will go into some computer and gather cyber dust.

Ant the poem...well I don't brlieve in hell and that stuff...i think we make our own hell here on earth...I am going to sit in a lovely garden surrounded by animals and nice folks and just relax.

The weather seems to be a bit whacky all over, and it is getting harder and harder to tell what is 'natural,' and what may be a part of the 'climate change.' I suspect it may be a little of both. And how very gallant of you to offer your loo to that lady surveyor, especially after giving her some of your tea . . .
