With the word "Word" being capitalized in your sentence, I'm afraid I can't expound on it any differently than is found in John 1:1-5 KJV of The Bible.  Now if the word "Word" had not been capitalized, I could have talked on it all day long.  I love words.  I love to put them together.  I adore a good dictionary.  I love word games, reading how you put your words together to write stories for us.  I wonder what might have been the very first word uttered.

Pat

My understanding was that, actually, in the beginning was a thought.....and then a picture.....somewhere in there came a sound to represent the picture.....picture(s) began to represent not just items/people, but actions....and language, written and spoken, developed around the world in bits and parts....seems there have been debates, as always, on timelines, etc.....but it all sounds basically logical.  Still so amazing....and humbling....looking back....

Re Pat....

So....a very wise woman started marking the days it took for the sun to reach it's longest stay on earth...washing the world with life giving light.

Other people of her cave grunted and pointed and scratched their heads or /and their backsides wondering what it meant.

The wise woman wondered how to explain to this great unwashed mob .....inspiration came when she pointed to the marks and to the sun and said...Counting!!! And the Word was born.

Is this kinda on the same level as "the chicken or the egg" argument? Hey, someone had to start jotting things down at some point . . .
