Hi BF
Haven't thanked you for your good wishes yet, so I'm doing it now! And yes, my surgery the other day by one of the very best surgeons in North America didn't cost me anything extra, beyond my high taxes that is, LOL... :)

I'm a few years shy of retiring so I won't be of any help to you....good luck!

here in Canada it is free ...I have so far found it very good but i imagine elective surgery would be a long wait...dental is not free.

I think Australia may be more like yours. There are public hospitals and some free dr. and free to be seen in outpatients in Australia. I pay $1500 a year for private cover in Australia...too scared to let it go...and if you want a private dr the Gov. pays some of the fee the rest you pay and some procedures are very expensive.

Yeah, these new health care laws and choices can get confusing. You really have to be careful, and research as much as possible . . .

Well here UK we get free medical care eventually. If one can come up with the lolly instead of waiting six months for a free op, one can get fixed within a week. I just pay a cheap service that allows one to speak to a doctor anytime and has hospitals that one can pay to enter. If one is on one's last legs the free service will do its best to keep one going for a bit longer.
