Re: When I first learned about the birds & bees, I was nearly struck dumb

Hm' I don't think the creator has much to do with the old man coming home sozzled and jumping his poor old wife Pat. I think as you surmise it is all rather random. If you had been brought up in a palace you would have been a princess.

When I first learned about the birds & bees, I was nearly struck dumb

by the possibilities of genetics, the couplings that had to take place from the time of Adam and Eve right down to the seemingly random courtship of my mother and father and the timing of my conception. What are the odds of me being me. I can still boggle my mind with debates about whether a particular individual is a genetic accident or some specific design of the creator...

Yes Justi, you and George have a sweet arrangement, we all have to learn to give and take. Life is amazing really to be born into a living environment just the right condition to survive, the right distance from the sun so many wonderful things really, yet so often just accepted as a penance.

I suppose tensions run high at Christmas FS . I expect if it was the same parents you might have been your sister's sister,

Re:

Well Jimmy I did say contented not happiest . My great Aunt said to me once we have never quarrelled once in all our 60 years of marriage and I thought I know because your husband always agreed with you. It is a delicate balance which you have perfected Cheers.

Yes I suppose we start off like a little potato and then ideas and worm holes take over.

Stop-pit that was my non-existent brother saying that.

Re: Taps

Perhaps you would have been more like your sisters Taps a job to tell.

The subject of that first part is a very interesting one.  I've had thoughts like that before, like if Mom had married someone else instead of Dad, where would I be in the chain of things.  LOL

Cheers old friend to you...and when you start to think about birth it really  does seem to be an accident or a miracle that we are here and we should really make the most of all the time we have.

Terrific Bro, that's how things worked in my first marriage. I hope Archie get's his head on right before the caravan comes along.

The chances of those who are born in just that configuration (such as anyone who has ever been born) to actually be born are so vanishingly small that it's almost a miracle...but then, someone always will be born...

No, I'd have to disagree with the contention of either partner assuming a 'submissive' role. My wife and I share everything equally, including our feelings and respect for one another. And trying to speculate about who could have been someone's parent will just drive you insane! Let it go . . .

I have wondered that one, too, wondering who I would be if I was not me...I guess the spike in divorce applications in January has to do with people making that resolution...The theme of friendship is an interesting one.

This was an excellent post. If both partners think first of the other's needs both will be nurtured and happy. I am with you if I didn't exist as I am then how would I know who was who and what about what. You see it is crazy to ponder who we could or might have been. We are all who God intended us to be. I loved the poem.
