Excellent observation, Ifyou-please . . . .
That was very well put and makes me want to read more of your writing.  Thanks for the contribution.  I wish I know how to link to your blogs in this comment.

Personally, I think the best advice comes from places that don't
claim to know everything.  For instance, a lowly bean plant will tell you without bragging or credentials, "Plant my beans and you'll get more."

And that I heartily agree with . . .

What of the Jim Bakkers, the Pat Robertson's, etc., who use the "good works" of their churches, their congregations to enrich themselves or to foster their political beliefs?  In my opinion, the smaller churches with the smaller congregations get "closer to God's will" than do the mega-churches.

Ironic that the mega-churches could do so much more with their increased wealth, but they don't.

The Churches Business
The soup kitchens, day care centers, counceling and other services are the work of the church. Many  mistakenly think of a church as a building and not the people within. In Matthew 25: vs's 31 through 46, is the story of the Sheep and the Goats. Bottom line - Truth - "Whatever  you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me."

Not exactly so . . . .

My beef is not so much with those who have the training, and the credentials, but with those who do not.  Many small churches or pastors from smaller denominations, or self-proclaimed "men of god" assume their profession as priests, ministers, etc., automatically make them counselors.  Those are the ones I would like to see eitehr get the requisite counseling training, or stop counseling.

By definition of the word "professional," priests, ministers, and rabbis are not only paid for what they do, they are trained to provide counsel to those who seek it.  I have a feeling this issue is really not your beef.
