Well, I vaguely remember being able to pop right up off the floor like that.... so vaguely I can't remember when the last time I did....long before artificial knees for sure! When I was younger I nearly always sat on floors with my knees splayed out sideways so I was totally flat and stood straight up from that....hurts just thinking about now!

Ha, ha, after much deliberation I clambered up from a kneeling position without touching the floor I think you should try that first. I think I shall now live to 100 after I have had a new knee operation. Pretty good though Taps at 83 don't you think.

Well, I tried it - here's what I do. When I'm sitting on the floor, I need to use one hand to get on my knees - from there I have no problem standing up without using either hand...
