T99,

Chuckle, chuckle, bwa-ha-ha-ha-ha!  You better duck and run away!

In answer to your second question:  nearly smack, dab in the center of the state, not far off U. S. #1 and between the two thriving metropoli of Vass and Cameron.  Come see me some time.

Thanks for reading.  I read your profile and you Journal post.  I like your tastes.  As far as religion goes, I find nothing in science that contradicts my faith.  Who do you think put the Big Bang into motion.  My problem is with the various bickering denominations of all the many different religions.  They all think they're right when, in my perception of reality, all of them believe in some truth and a lot of dogma.  Think it all out, come to your own conclusions, and I think your faith will reappear.

Yay for high speed!

I believe in it.  I want it.  I even think I need it.  Unfortunately, as I think I've mentioned before, I live in rural North Carolina where everything is not available.  My only access to high speed seems to be through a satellite connection which I have been led to believe is prohibitively expensive.  I'm going to check into it anyhow and if there's any way....

Thanks again, girls, for all the comfort and advice.

notapoet,
The same thing keeps happening to me too. I feel your frustration. I loose my place (like when I'm in the middle of reading a post) every frickin' time it happens, although it only happens about once every forty minutes, if there isn't a lot of action with my mouse or keyboard, especially when I'm reading posts!

Not to do so would have been a false economy. I am similar

For me, high speed was a simple decision.

I literally gave up my home phone line and my dialup service and replaced both with high speed internet.  I was paying $30/mo for my home phone, and $15/mo for dialup.  That's $45/mo.  My high speed internet with very basic cable service is $52/mo.  It was only a $7 difference.

beachbelle, Tamarra99, food4thought, Slutty_Legs,
Thanks for all the comfort and advice.  The comraderie too.  This is more attention then I usually get over a whole weekend.  Maybe I should get pissed more often!

beachbelle,
I believe you, Doll.  I just can't afford my only source of high speed right now.  I do have a download accelerator that helps some.  And I can't seem to spell lately, either.  My indispensable dictionary helps some, but I keep forgetting to check my subject lines when I post.

It is - sometime this summer I would like to get a new(er) computer
but I'm broke right now.  It's all I can do to pay the bills.

Sorry you had similar problems.  All the attention is doing wonders for my mood.  Hope your day was brightened too.

I suppose misery loves company.  I hope to get high speed one of these years.  I'm sorry you have to reboot so frequently.  It must get to be a real drag.

This is why I like high speed internet.

I've only lost a connection twice in 13 months.  It's probably electrical static that's making you lose it.

If it's any consolation, I have to reboot my home computer anywhere from 4-20x a day....and that's EVERY day - not just when it's storming.  Makes composing writing a bit of a bitch.

Your comment makes me feel much better.  Conspiracy theory I can deal with.  If I'm going off the deep end I can at least believe there is a reason beyond my own incompetence.

I seem to be having the same problem..
I suspect it is the new V92 modems don't like old crackly phone lines, all part of a plot to force us to go wireless.  Could be a conspiracy there.
