Re: Re: Re: Re: Re:

I have no real preference, Kabu, but I am partial to anything with chunks of fruit in it, like cherries, peaches or strawberries . . .

and having said all that about ice cream....I always settle for Vanilla for myself...

Re: Re: Re:

Of that I have no doubt, Kabu. There's really only two flavored ice creams that I don't particularly care for . . . mint and coffee. Everything else is fair game . . .

Re:

Let me see, TAPS. Crushed ginger snaps and Tabasco sauce mixed into vanilla ice cream. Hmmm . . . how about we call it One Spicy Cookie! Or perhaps Ginger & Maryann's Mexican Revenge! No? Well, as long as you enjoyed it . . .

I grew up with doing things to vanilla ice cream because that's all my parents bought for us--big buckets of vanilla ice cream.  My two favorite things to do with it was put on it crushed ginger snaps and squirts of Tabasco Sauce.  I never thought of making up a funny name for it.

Re:

I would think, Annicita, that bizarre and disgusting pretty much sums it up! People sometimes like unique and unusual things, but not when it comes to their ice cream! Thankfully they 'wised up,' and are now producing the flavors many people have come to love . . .

it's no surprise they had trouble getting funding with those mmmmmm bizarre and disgusting flavors

Re:

Glad to know, Kabu. And I don't think I would have considered the Italians that adept at making ice cream! I know it's manufactured all over the world, in different flavors, textures and combinations, but I've always connected things like gelato, cannolis, zeppolis and tiramisu to the Italians, and not necessarily 'ice cream.' I'll have to investigate further . . .

Re: JimmyA

I hear ya, Sir Wiley! Keep it simple, right? My wife and I enjoy many different flavors and varieties of ice cream, but regardless, we always check the ingredients, just in case! No, I don't think we'll find tiny bones or small bits of frogs in any of the ice creams we eat . . .

Re:

In what way, Justi? Taking chances on eating something frozen and covered with 'green bits,' or seeing if I could peddle any of these ice cream flavors from the back of a tricycle? Either way, I must admit, I'm not much of a risk-taker . . .

Re:

It is indeed, FSI, and that's no joke! Stranger things have been found in various products other than ice cream, and then there are those ingredients that people might be better off not knowing about in some of their everyday foods! That which does not kill us . . .

Re:

I assume, C C T, that's a compliment, although I can't honestly see myself riding around on any vehicle peddling ice cream, regardless of the flavors! And I must say, you're a braver man than me! An ice lolly wrapped in greaseproof paper covered with bits of green stuff would have been instantly thrown away in my house! Let me know if you ever figure out what flavor it was . . .

They should go to Italy for a lesson in beautiful ice cream...Italians make the best the most delicious in the world...no rocks even!!!! Enjoyed the laugh my friend.

That is quite the history they have had there...Wise advice to check those ingredients.

Now funny you should mention this Jimmy but I was searching my smallish freezer indoors and all I could find was one solitary ice lolly wrapped in what seemed like greaseproof paper. I could not ever remember buying it and as I peeled the paper off after it had melted for a few moments I found it was a clear ice with bits of green stuff

stuck into it. I cautiously nibbled a bit and I could not recognize a flavor. I don't think it was frog, but I was put off and placed it in the sink. I think it should have been labeled.

I really like plain vanilla whipped into a big wisp of delight, but they don't make it like they used too. I think you would make a good ice cream seller with a three wheeled bike and one cannot say that about many people.
