Re: Re:Kabu

I have the cheap geraniums here but they die in the Winter...in Australia, they live for years.

Re: Rumor...

Trying to preserve Mary's innocence Rumor. One never hears the tale Mary had a poor old Sheep. Is one sheep a shep,?

Re: Naut

Poor Mary it endures well Naut.  Cut them on a slant immerse in water immediately a  teaspoonful of sugar and a few drops of lemon juice . Cut a bit off the stems each time you change the water daily if possible. Smokey looks like he would fall of a scooter .

Re:

I expect the monks did or perhaps some animal was forced fed. Some folk died in the first war boiled up rhubarb leaves and ate them.Carnations are quite good in water, but one gets bored growing the same plants year after year Jimmy

Re: Pat

Of course Teacher's should not have pets Pat, but they obviously do. I think your flower management is fine. I did note that a grower said his Mum swore by white lemonade but cutting the stems frequently and changing the water is  good practice.

Re:Kabu

I once grew many different varieties of geraniums. I seem to have gone off them now but they don't get many problems, I did see a feature by a gardening firm how to make a solution to kill or deter garden pests it was made with garlic and washing up liquid . I wondered if it would harm the plants.

LOL.Try anything so as not to get the cane.LOL...I only grow flowers and only one bush of peonies do I ever cut and bring inside. Cut Roses last a long time normally. My Dahlias have all been eaten by bugs, the sad sacrifice one makes to ensure one has gone all organic.

It is interesting how different plants have their own reactions to the environments they are in...Reading about Mary and her ham put a big smile on my face.

There have always been teacher's pets, and tiny tots who know

how to play the angles and I've not read a poem that expressed it better... I have pretty good luck with cut flowers if I change the water every couple of days, and remove any that have wilted. Also it pays to trim the stems about an inch with the change in water.  The florist sends along an envelope of some kind of plant food, probably sugar and a bit of aspirin, that keeps them going a while longer.

I wonder who first began chewing on certain flowers to discover which were toxic, and which may be viable as a form of medicine. They probably sacrificed themselves, and don't receive the credit they deserve. As far as 'flowers in winter,' I bought my wife pink carnations this past Valentine's Day ( still during winter ) and they lasted quite a while . . .

CCT

I have never seen cut lowers last more than four days at best; even after three they often no longer look respectable...Smokey Joe should get himself a bicycle - it's healthier...And your poem of Mary and her ham is vastly superior to the one with her lamb...

Well, the ham sure beats an apple....

ham n apples - has a nice ring to it....
