so many other societies revere the aged or elderly but not the consumer driven USA...we are constantly bombarded with images and scenes of youth meaning everything...drink this soda....use this makeup...use this haircolor and so on...even movies show the young usually trumping the elderly

Great post.  I loved it.  I have always loved old people, and now I am one.  I remind me of my Oklahoma grandma in her seventies.  I once thought I would never have the sags and bags, wrinkles and spots that she had then, but through it all what i remember the most is her sweet smile and sparkling eyes.

beautiful post dear friend.

I remember my  younger son saying to me  that he was sad when his Grandfather died just as he came out of his teens. He expressed the fact that just when he was old enough to appreciate Grandfathers life story, Grandfather was gone...
