You surprised me with the last line of the poem.
It does not sound good to have glass in the garden soil.  Years ago I tried to garden in a spot where someone had emptied lots of ashes from the old coal furnace.  It didn't do much for the gardening.

Well a good job they are smiling , Pardon my mediocre suggestion but shouldn't the stinger be attached to a different part of the anatomy.

Re: Pat

I guess we all slowly edged up out of poverty. My mother said when she was little she would feel round the shelves in the larder in case a slice of bread was still there.

The lady in the village sent a bowl of dripping each week because her mother having been a dress maker kept the children clean. Not much for losing ones husband in the war though.

I always pick up something from your blogs - a blend of then and now

that ties what used to be to what could happen - as in the shards of glass and the old bomb shelter in a currently thriving greenhouse operation. The give and take of your days is such a familiar story that takes me back to my mother's family and their comings and goings - sharing from their gardens, handing down and exchanging clothes among the children, etc.

Re: Jimmy

I suppose glass hangs around forever . Yes I've giving it a birth control pill.

I don't believe we've ever found shards of glass in our garden, but we seem to have found almost everything else! And yes, by all means, keep those snails from cross-breeding, espeically if they're possibly French. Nothing good could come from that . . .

I often find glass on the parking lots of where I work. It is a hassle to clean up...You do a great job capturing sad emotions.
