th

i do not think that 10.10 an hour is out of line.....if everyone could afford  a college education and had the same abilities  who would work for 10.10 an hour????  and if an employer hires someone for 10.10 an hour, i dont care how hard that employee works, he is not going to end up making big bucks, because that is all the employer wants to pay for that job....

the big question facing this country now is exactly how much is enough for the business owner, who wants 1+ home, best cars, how many? vacations?  sending their children to college. how much is enough?????  we live in a country where the person with the most money is the success, and he who dies with the most wins.....

I have no understanding of the financial geniuse it takes to run an economy but inflation never seems to me to have much commonsense to it. i do accept that the wealthy the priveledged and the healthy should take care of those less fortunate to themselves and a country is much better off where healthcare and an education for children and a right not a priveledge but what is the point of putting up everything if no one is better off.

i disagree wholeheartedly with you....if we let what the market could bear well many of us would be earning what they earn in thailand or other countries who provide cheap labor...30 a month for a full time job!  thanks but no thanks

You use the evidence to make your point well...It will be interesting to see what, if any, impact this has during the midterms.

I too have been following this particular story and debate for years now, and although most of your reasoning is sound, I don't believe that raising the minimum wage will have the dire affects that many people think it will, especially if it is done gradually. I think the problems and possible repercussions you have outlined would start if it is raised too much too quickly! A little at a time would serve to not only help those lower-wage workers, but would also give employers time to see how it affects their overall bookkeeping, and if they can adjust. We'll see how this all plays out . . .
