thank you for commenting at my post and telling me about reading the Kindle with your Mother. We never stop missing them, our Mothers do we. Mine has been gone for more than 20 years yet I miss my parents every day. Not in a heart wrenching way but just always think of them, wish they could still be here, but of course well and strong, not over 100 as they would be.

What you have written about freeze activities makes sense.

A key factor to bear in mind

is that this condition springs from a child who is so emotionally and/or literally abandoned as to feel at risk of dying, or even being killed by the indifference and/or hostility of those who are supposed to be that child's champions and protectors, and teachers of love.

The focus of the disorder is in emotional flashbacks triggered by similar conditions--or conditions that seem similar.  An emotional flashback can be so subtle, we don't realize that when we are ranting at someone who isn't listening to us, that person is actually seeming to us to be the parent who never listened, never heard.

Once we know it is a flashback, it is easier to take back control, and realize it isn't this store clerk, but someone far more significant we are raging at.

Until we get that control, those four responses are the ones we turn to, one usually, maybe two strategies. For me, I tried em all!

Note also that these are normal strategies, but we, dealing with C-PTSD, take them to extremes.
