Benz, that's awesome about your friend! Life is so precious and if people

would only slow down long enough to enjoy it and the beauty that surrounds them they would benefit so much from it!  Wow, I'd be curious to know if you find that book...maybe it's not out of print, but our copy is really old.  It's neat though!  I have tons of books like that and get many magazines in the mail like Backwoods Home where I advertise my 14,000 + word report.  I just placed another order the other day! Woo! lol

Anyway, I've enjoyed our chat!  Best to ya, my friend!

ariala, thanks for the Woodstock Homes heads up. Shall go buy it online
somewhere. Love those books!! Have my own collection of African adobe homes and other 'green' stuff from around the world. My friend's cabin in the mountains was spectacular. It survived the latest fires and all of her innovations and creativity survived, though she sold the cabin over a decade ago. The compliment was that the new owners left everything just as she had put it together. Fabulous.

Benz, I have a really cool book called Woodstock Homes and it shows all
these different types of homes created from "scratch."  Most of the homes in the book were built during the 60s and 70s (Woodstock years) by hippies.  It's really cool.  It's amazing how resourceful a person can be when they need to be or WANT to be (in my case).

ariala, so you have done this before? I do know how to start a fire with

sticks and find tubers and water in the desert, but that's about it for me. I do believe that it is possible to build an entire home with leftovers found around any city and wonder why no one has yet done that. Having lived overseas under some hardship upon occasion, I can live pretty "green" and minimally and could easily find happiness inside that life style.

In a fairly large city, all you have to do is tell enough people of your need or dream and the darned thing appears fairly quickly. America has so much unused and extra stuff and is generous to a fault.

Benz, it's actually more practical and covers the following topics:

Inside this booklet/report you'll discover:

  • How to look for land

  • How to move out of the city and into the woods!

  • A plan for getting out of debt

  • Practical wilderness skills to learn

  • How to organize and assess your supplies for wilderness living

  • Ways to improve your mental survival skills

  • Ideas for making a living in the woods

  • How to become self-sufficient

ariala, making a living in the woods? Finding truffles with my pet pig?

Finding magic mushrooms and selling them at Raves?? Logging? I'm trying to imagine how one would really make a living in the woods, basket weaving and maple sap gathering and What?

My dream house would be built here in the desert, so, if you had a book on making a living in the desert, it might prove much more helpful to me.....I'm curious about your article, however.......

DamonLeigh, you misunderstand the Depth of my poverty.

I have zero credit and never have had a credit card. If I applied for one, I would be turned down as a very poor risk or would make the credit giver laugh out loud while reading my application. Such is my life. It is okay however, as I was rich once or twice and accumulated  those things that I felt were vital to my happiness, only to find that they weren't.

I just want to be a success story on someone's t.v. infomercial on selling and buying things. "I would like to thank _______ for putting together these tapes and hints for someone like me to use and make a fortune after implementing his techniques. I made four thousand dollars in my first month!!" Like that. "Now, I'm worth over three million dollars in just three short years!"

Benz, hi there! I AM READING YOU, by the way, and enjoying every

minute of it!  We have a lot in common, my friend.  I recently purchased some acreage and hope to build on it someday.  I love the Spanish adobe look as well...I wrote a report called "Making a Living in the Woods," in case you ever need some info like that!

I agree with the others, you are definitely an inspiration!  Thank you and good luck!

beachbelle and spitfire, I knew what bb meant and have my

writing lapses just as she had here in my comment box. The hands and mind go faster than the keyboard can accomodate. Spitfire's HUH? gave me a needed giggle. Thanks.

This Is So...
...inspiring! I'm sure the energy will stay.

No money down. I use a method of credit cards. Once a month I apply for a card that offers 0% interest, and I make sure any borrowings are regularly dumped onto these 0% deals.

If you want more on this, feel free to email me.

Spitfire,
It meant to say Benzinha, did you know that I find you to be a very inspiring person? Make hay. Benzinha speaks of having little of material wealth but having energy at the moment. She is always an inspiration to me. Sorry, I was distracted - it happens when you have kids.
