Yes.  There is a growing movement I hope.  I don't want to start too much trouble but I certainly want things to change.

Thanks for coming by

I generally agree that this is the modern day equivalent of slavery.  Sure it is certainly not as bad as the slavery we learn about, but I suspect someday students will learn about how much we modern workers were manipulated.

Makes me wonder if computers work for us or we work for computers - and the companies that make them

I can sympathize...

The front-line people get all the ire and rudeness of dissatisfied customers, and still have to be nice.  And it isn't as if customers don't know they are being manipulated, run around and being given short shrift.  That's what destroys a company's reputation.

I hope you can move on out of that system soon.

No it is really sad, life is not supposed to be like this.  I have not seen that type of enslavement here but behind the scenes it may be different.

I have noticed those manipulative tactics in play...It seems to me that the more technological breakthrougs that occur, the more work that is expected to get done...

I've come close to snapping a few times myself.  I'm hoping I can say goodbye to all the insanity soon.  Thank you for reading and commenting.

Naut

The quality of service has definitely been eroded.  Sometimes I purposefully take longer than I should just to piss off the powers that be.  Winning those little battles helps me stay sane.

Thanks for the comment

I can understand that. The last place I worked, my duties and responsibilities kept doubling and tripling, as the company kept downsizing and downsizing. However, my pay stayed exactly the same for the last eight years I worked there! And then everybody wondered why I finally "snapped" and quit . . .

It's absurd to demand that staff serve two customers simultaneously! It just can't be done, at least not properly! You won't se me in an Apple store anyway - I refuse to join the 'Apple Cult', but all this give me just another reason...
