TAPS

I know how you feel! Our Toronto Marathon will be held tomorrow, with about 25000 runners expected! I've done it a few times myself, and would love to take part agai, but knee-surgery some years ago has pretty well put a stop to my long-distance running, even if I still do short jogs.

And I heard Macbeth himself speak those timeless words today, as you can read about in 'Thoughts'...

The sun is out here and I think about the iris and other bulbs that need to go into the ground...I think I will make a pie today instead...Apple.

I myself have never been much of a runner. My sister used to run in 5k races, but her IT Band started giving her a fit and so she stopped.

Well walk to the gate and back as many times as you can and think of the old times it will allow you to stagger indoors at an appropriate time.

Drifting along with the breeze-borne leaves, taking in the

chill winey air of mid-October, a day more brilliant in the slanted sunlight than any in summer - 'tis a fate devoutly to be wished... (with apologies to Will S.)

I know how you feel, Taps.  I'm afraid I've let myself go a bit as well.  I'm working on that, though.  Perhaps you could go for one or two short walks each day?  Then perhaps you could run next year!  Be blessed.
