I always love your posts but I particularly loved this one. I went down that road for so long and George and I had a most unusual deliverance from smoking. I may write about that. I love your groups and family get-togethers. I hate not having siblings.

Mom smoked for all the years I was growing up, hacking in the kitchen

every morning, rolling her own when they were scarce in the war years. Then when she was in her sixties the doc told her she had a choice: she could breathe or she could smoke. She gave it up cold turkey. I don't think she ever got over wanting "just one."

There might be a book in there. It seems everyone has a story about smoking or not or quitting or starting... I have tried it a few times but didn't like smoking.

I did smoke, at least a pack a day. And then one day I quit, cold turkey, and there's a story attached to it that I may even tell some day. And of course I have never smoked again! And the decision to quit was probably the single most important decision I ever made about my life...

Made me smile. I remember as if it were yesterday each time I tried to quit, and the time I was finally successful...Minus the lung surgery of course.

I myself have never smoked a cigarette...My paternal grandfather was a chain smoker (five packs a day).

Quitting smoking is easy. I've done it at least a dozen times.
