one time when i stopped in south dakota at my paternal grandmother's

house, my 2nd cousin (current owner of the house) was out mowing the lawn. I didn't walk around, though i did mention one particular tree that i well remember climbing as a tomboy child. as i stood there on the cracked sidewalk i felt some old familiar tug pull on my heart strings which pleasantly surprised me. i'm glad i pulled off the interstate and took the time to stop by and it was perfect timing with him being a younger guy being home on a saturday afternoon and all.  this is the first time i've told anyone how it felt... thanks for providing the space.

ñIn 1985 my father’s house in New Jersey had been demolished for garden or village apartments. His house in Pennsylvania along the Delaware River was still there my great aunt, her piano, and my father’s cousin all. I don’t know if the house’s still there. But my father would have been 105. Isnt it wonderful to be able to pull that picture up off the internet? I checked out my childhood home on google one time and was surprised at how much the same it still was.

Loved this post TAPS.

It is good how onww can visit and think without having to actually be there. There is nowhere in the world as safe as where one grew up if there was love.

The memories stay with us. Another family lives in the home that I lived.  They have remodeled, added to it.  The fruit trees are still in the yard.  My Dad had a green thumb and so do the new owners.  At times I feel like stopping in and saying this is where I learned many things! They would think I am nuts.

You had so many memories there, I can tell. I happen to visit the house where I spent most of my childhood since Mom still lives there. I also drive every so often by the second old house of mine too. Finally, I happen to live next to my very first house. I have practically come full circle.
