The problem is that the news media perpetuates these people's stupid comments and bad behavior! We would all be better off if they were simply ignored . . .

You are so right.  I spend much of my time attempting to help people understand so they avoid unecessary pitfalls.  Many just will not listen to reason.

We live in a time of excuses and media overlooks. We are in great trouble and no one will know it until it is upon them, until it is too late.

Personal conviction is the best way for change.

Yes..

Legalise the herbs.. there are way worse ones out there that are unknown and more dangerous and perfectly legal.. If it weren't for the fact that folks "have" to hide the smoking "because" of the law, I think ALOT would be different as it goes for "being honest".

Well of course drug & alcohol addicts  have to admit to themselves first what the problem is, growing up sensibly is so difficult. I've been a sober adult for 45 of my 77 years.

I think that drugs are a huge problem in our Western society...Why do people need so many recreational drugs and if they weren't wanted the Cartels would disappear as would Afghanistan and places that make or grow the stuff. Legalise marijuana and tax it  like tobacco and liquor...and stop using the other stuff as a society. We would all be better off.

This is the question indeed...

A great question to ponder there. This entry in and of itself is a great start.

Teaching for proper thinking, and taking responsibility for one's thoughts and actions, has to begin at a very early age, and has to be consistant.  An awful lot of people are wasting the preschool years that their children will never have again.

those excuses sound like something a kid would say when they get caught

Not everyone will accept personal responsibility.  Jail and different penalties can force some to, others who have money and act well may get away with it.  Not all can be changed in my experience.  I like it when there is a personal conviction and someone really changes for the better.
