I know the mom is going to emotional and want to protect the reputation of her son, I can't blame her at all. I am sure that there are mistruths on both sides but the fact remains that a young adult died and I will forever believe that it was unnecessary! I can't believe anything Zimmerman says, especially after he and his wife tried to hide the money from the cout that was collected for his defense! He is over zealous and kid is dead! It's so wrong for me! sam

Very true. It is on both sides and I hope I made the point. Hopefully there will be peace. Bitterness will remain on both sides in some degree.

Lets be real here.. discrimination (racial slurs) exsists on both sides in society and keep in  mind Zimmerman used a racial slur as well. Nobody wins. He was told to let the police handle it.. did he listen?  Let peace prevail when this trial is over.

You are so right. The truth, whole truth and nothing but the truth is a myth.

I am from the south and that is a negative term for whites. It is sad people cannot accept those who are different without creating problems for them. Live and let live is not understood.

Re: JimmyA

That's true, especially because, nowadays, skinny people seem to be in the minority . . .

My black friends have told me it is racial, another word for white people, slang, much like that other word for black people. Not being from the south I didn't know. I don't take it to heart though, being Mormon I have grown up with much hateful discrimination, from time to time. As far as the trial goes, I think there was violence on both sides, and that he will walk and the hatred will grow...God be with you my friend.

If this were a perfect world everyone would be truthful..Unfortunately, a person will say anything to get back something or to get through something that will make them less a bad person.

Don't forget fat people can pick on skinny people, a skinny person dare not say anything about a fat person.

That will never be for it seems there are more dishonest than honest.

Unfortunately, there are many groups amongst our splintered society who seem to live and breathe by the double-standard. At the same time, certain people, especially those in the public eye, will do almost anything to avoid bearing any sort of moniker. Say anything even remotely negative about any woman, you're automatically a sexist. Say anything negative about any black person, you're automatically a rascist. Say anything negative about any gay person, you're automatically a homophobe. Say anything negative about any Jewish person, you're automatically an anti-Semite. A double-edged sword is one thing, but people still try to play both sides against the middle, and just about everybody loses! By the way, I think that "creepy-as cracker" sounds hilarious . . .

True. I just do not enjoy the posturing and attention these get and impact they make on society given insignificance of unknown people who negatively or made no impact suddenly get fame and fortune. It is an unusual phenomenon.

DrJ

The Zimmerman trial is, among other things, political theatre. As such, its importance far transcends the 'normal' confines of a criminal trial, and the outcome will be no more determined by the 'facts', whatever they are, than were the famous Moscow Trials of the 30's, LOL...

Exactly!!! I was punished because I spoke up and out but men do same all the time with no consequence. It is awful in and among groups as well as between groups. It will not change. We must deal with what situation and circumstance that in within us as individuals and those we face.

Reverse racism should also be condemned along with racism within the race, especially when people like Paula Deen have been punished so over an obscure incident 30 years ago.
