Often I feel a touch cynical., I am afraid - not at the poor victims but at what is being hidden by the sudden focus on a tragedy (there are so many each day across the world that they could easily fill a tragedy channel). Normally it seems that when the focus is on a tragedy then something is going on we should be paying attention to (normally in government)

Bill...

At first listen or first sight, a major tragedy leaves me with a numbing shock, but I try not to let it linger...as has already been said, there are usually positive ways to help the victims...

I actually have no emotion. I will listen then decide if there is something that I can do to help. I also wait until my friends who become emotional call, then I will discuss with them and try to get them in a peaceful and calm mindset by reasoning with them to put it in perspective for it is not in your house or in your life.
