Under no circumstances should you invest even a penny in that house before you own it! And it might in the end really be better to look for something else, although I wouldn't give up yet...

I know you have a lot of time, energy and money invested already in this particular endeavor, but sometimes I can't help but wonder if it is better for the whole thing to fall through and to start over, preferably with a different house, a different bank, and a different agent! It may take another year, but it might turn out to be a better deal . . .

óMy realtor suggested that to me nine years ago. He ran away with an Indonesian girl. The hospital went out of business with my money love.   BC-A, Bill’s R®st

Banks and mortgage issues are in an all-time paperwork snarl

these days, and the trouble you're having may be fallout from the big fraud the speculators pulled before the real estate mess led to our economic crash. This delay just might prevent future disaster for you. Crossing my fingers for a good result.

I wonder if your agent and her superior are very professional. No I agree you do not need to rent a house someone might buy out from under you. It is harder to renovate after you move in. I love he positive manner you are moving in, I know you will have the best outcome be it this one or another. Let the Lord do his work.

Yes you could lease  and then if property prices go up, you might find you are caught in a cleft stick. Silly idea I think.Sam.

I agree with you.  I wouldn't invest that kind of money fixing it up until my name was on the deed.  Too many glitches have already been happening for you to do that....good luck sam and prayers sent!

There is no telling what they will do next.  I would never invest before you sign a legal ownership document. I am ghetto enough to live in it with no improvements, but that is just me, after my life.  I hope you get it,  but I am glad you are resolved to do something else if this does not pan out after it has been so iffy all along.

The idea of leasing it from the seller sounds interesting though like you, I would be leery too.

Does this sort of mess happen often?
It is all very discouraging.
