I hope they get a strong leader, too! Poverty is rampant in the country and I hope there is a leader who can change this trend! A baseball player from their nearly had his parents and brother kidnapped for a ransom. That is not unheard of there either! Fortunately his family was saved and unharmed but he would like to bring them to the US. I hope he succeeds because the player is on my favorite team! sam

very difficult for me to mourn a Dictator though if he lifted people from

terrible poverty that is good. i am sad for him the terrible way he had to die though.

I hate to bring this up but, Hilter was an unbelievable hero to his people too, and look what that got them! Things started out okay for Nazi Germany in the early '30's, but went downhill when Hitler decided to take over the world! I don't think Chavez had those same expectations, but his ideals were similar ( he was a dictator after all! ) I too hope their next president tries to make new amends with the US.

i wonder if we can expect a leader to be all good, although some have looked like they are all bad.  i guess a happy medium is all we can hope for.
