I love oxtail soup, even though I'm sure there are probably all kinds of tails in there...

Re: C.C.

Well Justi I would love a recipe. After the war my dad came home with a carton of ice cream, we children had not tasted any for three or four years, imagine our dismay to find

the ice cream was Brown, dad put it out on the drive and we watched it slowly drip drip away, of course in those days we had been wary of foodstuffs. Dad told the shopkeeper who incidentally was my uncle and emigrated to Australia a few years later. He told dad with a chuckle that the ice cream was Coffee flavoured.

Re: Jay

Well J a Y a few years ago I bought an Apple press, but it is still in the shed, I found it was easier to give the apples away. The trouble is today most of the butter is salty, I suppose one could get unsalted and mix with cream, but it sounds a bit too fattening these days. I hope you have recovered from your journey.

Re

My grouchy mood has worn off, so I will commiserate with you, and try to explain, as a good cook should, obviously you cooked your mixture too long and at to great heat .yes we call them boot sales. my sister and Archie are always having them, Archie was very annoyed he bought a China article off my sister and found to his dismay a hair crack.

He is still planning his revenge.

Re:

Well I just bought some with pecans and maple syrup, I am not going to look on the box to see how many calories there are in this devilish mixture. I can tell you though those old-fashioned machines turned out something out of this world.

Re: Adnohr

I knew salt was involved Adnohr. Was glad the old man was not  still making it, he could hardly breathe and said he sat in a chair all night to keep upright.

Re: Bill

Bill the last time my brother and wife went to the butcher he gave then an oxtail.

But it is the same old tale, one cannot tell one tail from another, but Lamb's tales are reputed to enhance virility.

We have an old ice cream maker, but we never use it as it is very old and I am sure I would break it. We have a butter churn too and that we use. I must get caught up with my reading. I forgot the lap top and did not want to barrow my SIL's for long time periods.

Wow you are full of various talents. I love Oxtail Soup. I still love ice cream made that way. Now the maker thingy is electric but as a child we cranked it. It took forever it seemed.

lots of things didn't sell bu those hard toffee drops went like hot cakes. I believe the dentist did very well after...broken teeth y' know!!! I shall ignore the quip re my cooking so that you may feel disappointed.

How fun--Chiff Chaff cooking.
We used to make ice cream that way.  It was a lot of work turning the crank but it sure was good.  My favorite had fresh ripe peaches in it.

ZThis is more educational than the Cooking Channel sir. I didn’t know that an oxtail was a cow’s tail. What do oxen wag sir? That's because I won;'t go further than eating angus burgers. BC-A, Bill’s R®st
