I'm late getting started on this, but I will be glad to follow it through.  I'm just glad it isn't me going to North Dakota.  That was a hard life for the pioneers of those days.

Re: WileyJohn, Ancestry.com - costs

Our public library has a free link to Ancestry.com along with a ton of print genealogy resources. Maybe yours does, too. BTW, since your Anacosti writing is historical and specific, I'll bet the library would like a copy, signed by the author of course. :)

So Rouse was innocent, well that shows the family in a good light. What a relief Pat.

I wanted to join that Ancestry.com but I didn't like paying for it. LOL

But it is a lot of fun, and since you are not trying to write a family

History exact, you should take writers licence privelege as the story calls for it. Research on!!

That actually does sound like fun. I've always loved history in general, but family history is even more special. My grandmother on my mother's side did a tracing several years ago, and we found out we're related ( very far removed, of course, but still related ) to both the French painter Monet, and Pocahontas! Keep digging . . . you'll be amazed at what you might find!

I am going to pay a visit to that site. One of my friends does alot of research there and has mentioned it, and now your posts are making it more and more interesting. I imagine that I'll find much of what my mom told me to be 'slightly' different that what I find there too. She did love a good story!! That's a kool name - Rouse!
