I worked at a community college in Seattle as my post-retirement job,
and in my office assistant position I supported teachers - ordered their textbooks, took messages from their students, etc. It's my opinion that teachers create the world by inspiring their students. Being on the job in both for-profit and educational settings during my work life, I can only say the atmosphere in the school is yeasty, encouraging, growth promoting. Not so where it's just grubbing for dollars.

i admire you for your skills and use of your talents and you certainly have
reminded me that job satisfaction is definitely more important than money. I am not silly, I like enough for my needs as does dear Wiley, but we prefer to be happy and in love than wealthy.

More to happiness than money indeed, Dsm
Teaching is a very demanding and at times thankless job, but the country, the world is lucky to have people like you who give more than they take. So much is shaped in a child's life by teachers, be they in public or private schools. There does seem to be some disrespect for the profession from the hard right and I can not understand that!
