Re: emulating other poets and CONDEMNING "C C T"
Emulating past works of art is how you LEARN in the beginning. It is an exercise until one can fly by themselves. I find it a lot of fun to write Shakespearean sonnets for the same reason. It teaches you meter, rhythm; just a fun way to go about learning how to write. And, why not copy the best until you can walk by yourself? But I am only one opinion. Success in writing, I would guess, is taking a lot of different pathways until you find your own way. Out of that cauldron of many attempts will finally come your own 'brew'.
Do I have such a sway upon thee, CCT? But how may I condemn you to anything you do not choose? Weep with me and move on. Love me and move on. We are so lightly here, you know.
Can I do "Dylan"? Let me grab something of his and I shall give it a try. Only reason I have been emulating Emily is because I have had my head buried in her poetry collection all week. I'm stuck in her time zone right now. I have always been fascinated with that period. The Civil War was so traumatic for Americans.

Well as clever as you may be and honestly I don't think one should try to emulate older poets, why not just write as you feel. Now you have condemed me to simple verse on this blog. Can you do Dlyan Thomas.

Re: Yes another fan of Emily
I just edited this sonnet again. I should not put things out there until I am finished with the poem, but I don't ever seem to be finished.
I have tried to write in her style...once. Not as easy as it looks.
