Whoever poses the great questions of today as having multiple-choice
answers is doing us a disservice. He's trying to do our thinking FOR us by reducing big issues to little answers that HE frames ("Well, which is it, A or B? And dont keep me waiting!" "Er, well there's this C you left out.") As a former teacher, I used to hate grading essay questions (too subjective), but that was the only way to find out if the student was thinking or if he had any ideas of his own. On the other hand, true-false, multiple-choice, and matching columns just needed an answer key. It all depended on what you were actually testing, what you were trying to achieve.
i know, I hate wimpy

Given a choice between bad and worse what is there? People who live here, people who do not seem to be so short sighted in what is acturlly our base of thinking and believing are saying saying what Patrick Henry did: Give me Liberty or give me death'. Our way has made us happy and successful to the point that people from all countries want to come here then they want to criticize. This was well thought out and well written. Good for you.

definitely some big thinking went into this poem last year. We have invited
people into our homelands of all beliefs and it is a really big task to become one ....my feelings are that we will never be able to manage this.

And would not expect anyone else to remove their religious feelings from that which they write.

No, I am simply writing from a Christian point of view. I said nothing hurtful about anyones religion, nor do I point out the posts here on Blogit that are Muslim, or Hindu as I respect their freedom to believe what they like, some of which I too believe. Nor do I point out those posts here on Blogit that are obviously anti Christian. I assume by the picture that those who are of different beliefs and diabolically opposed to reading a Christian's point of view would then simply move on. I will not remove my feelings for my God from my writing to please no one.

its a great poem....but in it you are writing as if all people in this country are christians....that is one of the great differences in this country .... we allow religious freedom....some may consider this a mixed blessing....we are predominantly christian....having traveled to a country that is predominantly muslim i can understand how other people feel when they are the minority religion....

A timely post given all that is going on in our nation and in the world as a whole. I sure hope that the ship can be righted...It'd be interesting to see how this poem is looked at 100 years from now.
