I didn't know about that, but I saw a "funny" pic titled "Obama meets with Clint Eastwood" and had a pic of Obama sitting on a porch with an empty chair.  I guess that was supposed to be a rebuttal of sorts?  Idk, a bit of odd bloggery going around.

I watched the whole convention, as I will the Democratic convention. As a citizen I feel it is our responsibility to be informed and not just by the media lap dogs who seem to work for the president. The Eastwood thing fell short, on that there is no doubt. However he being a hero of mine and our nation I felt sorry for the man while at the same time wondering how well I would preform in front of the nation at 82 with no out takes...

Re: Mariss, that's really a great connection -

Neil Diamond's "I Am, I Said!"

                                     I am I said

                                     To no one there,

And no one heard at all,

                                       NOT EVEN THE CHAIR!

I never would have thought of that in a million years!  Good synapses!

Reminds me of the song, "I am, I said" .  I am alright with it though, because politics has me wondering and rambling too.  Nothing could be too avant garde for me to capture current politics, I wonder if a single one of the major players cares about the majority, other than for votes.

Re: 2902

Perhaps, but as to the last, Paul Newman refused the Dirty Harry roll as being too fascist.  To be fair, I think the scene in question was the one where Harry's  holding that big pistol on the disarmed crook who asks if there are any bullets left in the gun.  Harry says he doesn't know and asks the guy if he's feeling lucky and pulls the trigger.  It clicks on an empty chamber, satisfying the curiosity of each.  A great moment, but pretty disturbing stuff,  Miranda-wise.

2902

YRomney said that he was only being Eastwood. He might be in a time gap out the old West sir. He belongs there because he's a great director and actor. He should stick to those, However, his politics motivates him to make great films. In those he states his American heartland message good.  BC-A , Bill’s  R®st

Re:You mean those skinny little cigars he clamped in his teeth?

The ones that made him squint in those spaghetti-westerns?  No, nor had he been "smokin' something funny".  It could conceivably have been a clever bit - it certainly was theatrical - but he didn't pull it off.  It turned out just, well, deeply strange.

Yes I didn't see it, I assume the chair did not talk back was Clint smoking?

Re: Well put! I thought he'd be able to sense what was (not)

happening and put something better together on the spot.

Re: a great haiku I must say and can there be anyone left on the Planet who

Adnohr, I agree - I still love to watch his movies and feel that this was not a good swansong for him.

Re: a great haiku I must say and can there be anyone left on the Planet who

I saw only the briefest bit of it.  Awful.

In answer to Kabu's question...(me!). Not because I couldn't have watched it. I saw the headlines, and DIDN'T want to see a man I've always admired go that way.
