A haunting poem you got there. You describe the fear felt so well...I myself am fine in the dark but generally always shuts the blinds.

Those moments of fear must be pretty gruesome for a little boy. You have managed to capture the scenario leading to the fear excellently Utah.

An awful feeling Jay, one can understand these fears and feel sorry for that poor little boy.

when I was nursing you would be amazed how many times I got a broom and
chased the bad thing out from under the bed and down the corridor. Oh I am not talking the Children's ward not the mental Health section. All sorts of people are scared at night worse sometimes when someone is very ill. one night when I was sweeping away the scary things, the Dr. came around the corner! Sigh!!

I used to be an "under the bed checker" myself - a little spooked by the falling of night. Loved this line: To slip into these caramelized realities

Oh this is so incredibly wonderful. I can see the little boy's heart and mind so solidly sure of monsters who are everywhere after dark. Of course you can't tell your dad you're afraid of anything. All this was so clear in the drama of dream, great welcome home.
