Re: Annicita

For me, the jury is still out, I guess.  When I was younger and Ginny kept saying (hint! hint!) wouldn't you like Florida or California better, some place where the weather is warmer all year round, my answer used to be that I liked living here in NY where the seasons really had some variety.  Now at my age, I'm not so sure.  Yeah, cooler September days have their appeal, all right, but I know what comes next as the year shuts down.  I love hiking up in Harriman Park, and that's certainly easier in cooler weather.  Right now I'm getting up early AM for my hiking while the weather's this hot.

August, I expected to be like February in Australia which is always the

hottest and dryest Month of Summer but today here it almost feels like Summer is leaving and the nights are definitely cooler.

I'm just not sure HOW I feel about August.  I have a thing about blackberries - and raspberries.  Picking them  on a farm as a kid one time, I popped one in my mouth, but there was a spider on the other side of it!  Traumatic.  I'm still wary of eating them.

controversy

I'm retired now, but I never could make up my mind how I felt about August back when I was teaching - classes began again next month ( I loved the kids - usually - but teaching them how to write was damn hard and took a lot of take-home work).  On the other hand, it was a time when I had to face up to how few of my summer plans got done.  It was also a signal for some kind of last fling - like when Ginny and I - two years married - bought a tent and took off from New York for Colorado in our non-airconditioned Plymouth Duster.  When we had an aboveground pool, August was when dust, seeds, and leaves became a problem.  Halloween pumpkins in Sears - in August! - drive me crazy.  Etc.  etc.

Good one Bob, of course  I don't agree with you.  I like every month especially if it is now Goodness I had an handful of blackberries today cultivated they were as black as the Devil  beautiful because he does not pee on them in August.

August is one of my favorite months. I love all of the summer months actually. Being from Northern California, the weather is perfect. Warm in the day, cool at night, most of the time. It's been pretty hot this week, 90's and tomorrow 100, but that never lasts more than a few days then we're back to mid 70's to 80's. I have every thing I could want with in no more than a 4 hour drive. desert, snow in winter, the ocean, I love where I live, especially in august, but we pay for all that too. It's expensive to live here, for sure! Nice one Bob. Thanks for sharing.
