You nailed it - these Ulysses things are as much about narration as they are about poetry.  It's a new area!

I hadn't thought of that.  I can picture what you're describing.  It probably made his disguise easier.  It also would have made him look pretty weird to the waiting soldiers!

I love how the women were always so into those arm bangles with darkly drawn eyes - must have been a feast for Archilles eyes.
