debacle, they only fled to Canada to escape the draft....he on the other hand pretended Daft!!!! Keep going these are fabulous.

Apparently he had charisma, all right. and soldiered with the best of them.  What fascinated me was his ready tongue and cool-headedness and refusal to quit.

He was probably oozing charisma; a solid, observant farmer who, once forced into soldiering, would do what has to be done without quibbling or wasting time.
