Re:

Thank you CCT, yes, it's sad, but in the end I believe we'll come out on the other end stronger and more united, at least that's what I'm hoping.

Thank you for the visit, read, and comment, all are greatly appreciated. :-)

Re: controversy

Lol, controversyme 2902! :-)

Actually, I do feel that this poem falls in line with the one about Obama, because the sentiment is the same basically, and that is, "united we stand, divided we fall"  This poem was written more to reach the people who sit comfortably with their heads in the sand while the world fights around them, for them. The whole point is that it doesn't matter who our prez is, agree or disagree, acceptance is the key to our strength. We the people have very little say over what we're fighting for, it's done behind closed doors, by people in suits, over things we, as a nation, are told very little about. The poem was inspired by the photo.

I guess I can see where some of the readings may seem contradictary, and they may be sometimes, just keep in mind that the goal is always to just keep people thinking.

Thank you 2902 for your visit, read, and comment. I appreciate it and hope you continue to enjoy.

Re:

I mirror your sentiment Sam. I'm very proud to be an american. I'm extremely proud of our troops, and grateful for the freedom we have. This poem was actually inspired by the photo and as proud and grateful as I am, it's a tragedy that so many of our young men have had to lose their lives. Thank you for your visit, read, and comment Sam.

Re:

Yeah, it's a sad state of affairs right now, but I have faith that what ever changes we go through as a country we'll stand united and come out on the other side of it even stronger. It's just life on a larger scale. Thank you formerstudent for your continued support. I appreciate it.

Yes this is the dark side of humanity we don't have to go far back to find it was far worse.

Well written and emotionally touching and very sad.

controversy

Well, if you want to provoke controversy, this should do the trick.

Do you feel that - as it stands on the page - it squares well with your earlier poem about Barack Obama?

This is very poignant! I may have thought that way a year ago but after my son served a tour of duty in Afghanistan I am more proud than ever to be an American even thought times are not how we would like them to be! sam

It is incredibly sad how things are going. Here's to hoping that they change fast.
